Just essential for students of the German language

I had been recommended by a German teacher that I should get this grammar book and fortunately, I followed her advice. I can only say that it is just perfect for those, like myself, who find that learning German is very demanding. This book can defintely clarify your doubts on the difficulties of Germnan grammar, as it has plenty of exercises and clear explanations.

I believe it is an essential tool and I would certainly recommend it.
The delivery was ahead of the dealine and went just smoothly.

Best and Greatest German Learning Material: I highly recommend it!!

I lived in a German speaking country, where I had to learn the language, from zero, no previous knowledge at all!. I lived there for over 10 years, took many classes at several schools, researched and used several books and learning material during the learning process. I am glad to have learned the language to a proficient level. After having achieved this goal, I found that the best book to keep of all of the ones I bought was this master piece. I did keep other good books and material as well, but this book from Dreyer-Schmidt is for me like my "German Bibble", there I find all the answers to all my questions, it is great in the process of learning and after that to keep the language and do not forget what you learnt.. I recommend this book highly to anyone interested on mastering the German language and to keep it !!!!

It comes in several languages, for the beginners, but I recommend trying using the German one, thus one can understand and learn the REAL words, because German is German.

Life Changer

I read this book because I have a fear of rejection and always attributed my fear to being with a spouse that was not only a narcissist, but also a sex addict. Reasonable fears for that situation...I went to counseling, read books, journaled and did a lot of work to get out of that relationship and to a place where I was ready to date again. I was bewildered when after some dates, a failed relationship, and then finally meeting someone that was truly great those same fears kept resurfacing. This new man in my life gave me no reason to fear rejection, so I knew wherein the problem lies. I came upon this book after searching insecurity and read THE book that was written about me and my deepest thoughts. I am still astonished how well I am captured within these words and the exercises immediately began helping me to truly feel the love that I was being shown and be grateful for it.

An awesome book

OMG!! I am so happy I bought this book!! It has helped me understand myself so much better. I knew I was destroying my marriage because I could not bring myself to trust. I thought I could trust my intuition, but by doing so I was sabotaging that what I held so dear-my relationship to my husband. I would recommend this book to anyone who has issues with trust and self-love. I am by no means "fixed", but I know that it is possible and I see glimpses of change everyday. Thank you so much Leslie Becker-Phelps.

Nothing new here.

I'm surprised to see all of these five-star reviews. Having read Amir Levine and Rachel Heller's excellent "Attached", I found this book disappointing. I can understand why the material might be interesting to those who have never read about attachment theory, but compared to all the other literature out there, this book is quite sub par. In fact, I found no original idea or thought in this book on either attachment or anything else for that matter.

Benjamin Cane has nearly 10 years of experience in Linux systems administration. His first systems administration role was in 2006. At that time, he worked for a web hosting company supporting thousands of FreeBSD and Linux systems. Afterwards, he joined a managed services company that specialized in managing mission-critical systems. There, he worked his way to the position of a lead systems engineer, providing 24x7 support for highly critical enterprise systems that ran Red Hat Enterprise Linux. Now, Benjamin is a systems architect. He focuses on building High and Continuous Availability environments within the financial services industry. He is also currently a Red Hat Certified Engineer and Certified Ethical Hacker. With his experience in mission-critical environments, he has learned to identify and troubleshoot very complex issues quickly, because often these environments have a low tolerance for downtime. Being able to identify the root causes of very complex systems issues quickly is a skill that requires extensive knowledge of Linux and troubleshooting best practices. This books is a very a complete book that has all the informacion about working with TCP networking, it has the main and explain things that covers the topics about web applications, MySQL Databases and Development with Apache Web Server.

It was an excellent book for me, also, you begin with simple troubleshooting best practices and get an overview of the Linux commands used for troubleshooting. The book will cover the troubleshooting methods for web applications and services such as Apache and MySQL. Then, you will learn to identify system performance bottlenecks and troubleshoot network issues; all while learning about vital troubleshooting steps such as understanding the problem statement, establishing a hypothesis, and understanding trial, error, and documentation. This may be all you need...

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Troubleshooting Guide may just be all you need in your quest to wear the red hat. May I remind you that this is not a "getting started guide", but a troubleshooting guide. This assumes you are somewhat familiar with Red Hat Linux and you may be having difficulty with a particular scenario. If that's your situation, then this book IS your book.

The information is organized well with respect to topics and real world scenarios and the appropriate solutions. I found that most of the principles described behind the scenarios could be generally used to troubleshoot other Linux environments as well; which makes this book even more valuable.

I think a book like this should be written for every OS that exists.

Working with Red Hat daily so this book was a no brainier of a purchase, since Packt has a global $5.00 sale right now on all of their books. The book has a nice flow, and all of the information was well received. I enjoyed the section on tcpdump, and the coverage on /dev was on point. I highly recommend this book not only for Red Hat, but it's pertinent to Centos and you can even tweak it enough to get away with doing some diagnostic work on Debian based Linux distributions.

not really for small libraries

Despite the title, Daubert's book is not helpful for those who are working with a small library, such as ours, with about 1800 square feet and the equivalent of two full-time employees (made up of five part-time employees), located in a town of 3,000. We can't have a separate reference desk or many of the other facilities she takes as "givens". I am sure this book is useful for medium-sized libraries, but she needs to re-think her definition of "small".

This entertaining and often enlightening text defines what seasoned developers have long suspected: despite advances in software engineering, most software projects still fail to meet expectations--and about a third are cancelled altogether.

The authors of AntiPatterns draw on extensive industry experience, their own and others, to help define what's wrong with software development today. They outline reasons why problem patterns develop (such as sloth, avarice, and greed) and proceed to outline several dozen patterns that can give you headaches or worse.

Their deadliest hit list begins with the Blob, where one object does most of the work in a project, and Continuous Obsolescence, where technology changes so quickly that developers can't keep up. Some of the more entertaining antipatterns include the Poltergeist (where do-nothing classes add unnecessary overhead), the Boat Anchor (a white elephant piece of hardware or software bought at great cost) and the Golden Hammer (a single technology that is used for every conceivable programming problem). The authors then proceed to define antipatterns oriented toward management problems with software (including Death by Planning and Project Mismanagement, along with several miniature antipatterns, that help define why so many software projects are late and overbudget).

The authors use several big vendors' technologies as examples of today's antipatterns. Luckily, they suggest ways to overcome antipatterns and improve software productivity in "refactored solutions" that can overcome some of these obstacles. Highly recommended for all software engineers (and Project Managers)

Highly recommended for all software engineers (and Project Managers). Some patterns won't apply, so don't feel like you'll have to read it straight through, but there are a lot of good patterns and solutions in here. I also like that they specifically call out when an Anti-Pattern might be the best solution for a particular problem. It is a little dated so some of their solutions have been replaced by better solutions in modern languages, but you can always take their examples and just port them to the language of your choice.

It's really just putting fancy or cute titles (corncob!) on quite obvious, well-known software development problems. I don't think I saw a new or original thought in it except for the title. Having said all that, it might be a useful introduction to classic, well-known s/w problems for someone new in the field.

A poor imitation trying to coattail on "Design Patterns"

This book tries to follow on the success of the wonderful book Design Patterns (Gamma, et. al.) but fails miserably. It's been said in other reviews that this is "common sense packaged as wisdom", and this is not far from the mark.
While some of the anti-patterns are mildly useful -- particularly the ones specifically related to software development itself -- the ones related to project management are so obvious and general that all but the novice will roll his or her eyes back with disbelief that these could be included in a software engineering book.
For instance, the "Corncob Pattern" is a difficult person who causes problems through destructive behaviors and how to work around him or her. It's true that we all run into people like this, but this is supposed to be a book at least _somewhat_ related to software.
They have three patterns that essentially deal with overplanning ("Analysis Paralysis", "Death by Planning", and "Design by Committee"), and while I suppose these are possible, too little planning is much more likely to cause project debacle than too much. In fairness, they do have a not-enough-planning pattern, "Architecture by Implication", though this deals with architecture and not requirements.
Believe it or not, "Irrational Managment" is a "pattern" in an engineering book that discusses what to do if your boss is the problem. This seems to be a topic best left to Dr. Laura, in "Ten Stupid Things Managers Do To Mess Up Your Project".
I was unfortunate enough to read "Anti-Patterns" before "Design Patterns", and the poor quality of the former nearly kept me from reading the latter. These books are simply not in the same league, and some might say not even in the same industry.
Avoid this book unless you have very little real-world experience in the software business.
